The 2nd ever match of "The Proving Grounds" took place at Gryphon Group, and as an unorthodox and extremely technical shooting competition it certainly earns its name. The match was made up of 7 stages, but the coordinators called them missions due to the tactical nature of the courses. 4 of the missions took place during the day, then 3 at night using 1 low light / white light and also under night vision (NVG). The stages included a rollover simulator which competitors had to evacuate the vehicle after it ended upside down. Next conduct a 3/4 mile kit run to and from the shooting area as well as short sprints similar to bounding that really elevated the heart rate prior to shooting. One of the missions required the shooter to recover a wounded teammate and necessary supplies and maneuver under and over various obstacles. The match also incorporated basic self aid in applying a tourniquet, and mental games for bonus points. The shooting portions of the match had technical aspects that ranged from using cover, understanding height over bore, and lots of weapons manipulations / transitions from rifle to pistol and back all while engaging targets from 15 yards all the way out to 430 yards.

GGP Team shooter Bobby Whan placed top overall amongst nearly 50 competitors. "It was a match that tested competitor's shooting ability along with their physical AND mental abilities through day and night operations. I was lucky enough to walk away winning the Men's Intermediate division as well as high overall. One thing I love about this style of match is how it tests your gear." Bobby ran his GGP MKII Light Rifle with a Vortex Razor Gen II 1-6 LPVO optics with a Cloud Defensive REIN white light in addition to a P320 built with a GGP320 slide and TLR-HL weapon mounted light. For his tactical gear, Bobby ran the Grey Ghost Gear SMC Plate Carrier and UGF Padded Battle Belt.
